Setup Instructions

Student Stations

  1. Verify that all materials are present before proceeding to set up lab.
    1. Spectrometers may be in the 212Lab
  2. Do not plug any devices in.
  3. Setup the spectrometers so that they rest in the drilled holes.
  4. Turn on the sodium lamp and verify alignment of the spectrometer
    1. Line up the spectrometer with the central output line from the sodium source
    2. Verify that the angle is precisely 0.
    3. Verify that the line is as vertical as possible
    4. Verify that the line is as centered as possible.
    5. Make any adjustments as needed.

Teardown Notes

  1. Take care when putting away spectrometers, they are easily knocked out of alignment.
