California State
University, Fullerton is pleased to announce the establishment of the Dan
Black Program in Physics & Business. This program is funded by
a generous donation from alumnus Dan Black. It is aimed at providing
undergraduate physics majors with the training and experience needed to
succeed in today's world of high-technology business. The capstone
experience in this program helps physics students develop entrepreneurial
skills. The program operates as an emphasis in our regular physics
BS degree program. Students enrolled in this business emphasis
take courses in the College of Business and Economics (BAE) in accounting,
finance, marketing, management, and business communication in addition
to the standard core courses in physics taught in the College of Natural
Sciences and Mathematics (NSM). Seniors in the program enroll in
a capstone course taught in collaboration with the College of Business
and Economics. Students in this capstone course develop business
plans to start new businesses that provide products or services to the
general public using venture capital from program funds. Students
are guided through this process by a program advisory board that includes
business leaders and entrepreneurs from southern California's "Tech Coast". |
