I currently have 6 graduate students enrolled in PHYS 599. All 6 are working through the first seven chapters of the book by Hatfield; They are also required to write a few pages of notes on complex contour integration, used for Feynman propagators. Residue theory. We meet every saturday to discuss any problems and work through the book.
Notes will be handed out in class. Quantum Field Theory of Point Particles and Strings by by Brian Hatfield. I would also recommend books on field theory by Bjoken and Drell, Peskin and Schroeder, Kaku, Dirac and Feynman.
