Fred Johnson

Professor of Physics, Emeritus

B.S. City College of New York; M.S., Ph.D. Columbia University.

Dr. Johnson joined the department in 1971, serving a term as Department Chair. For many years he taught a popular general education astronomy course. His research interests were in the applications of atomic and molecular spectroscopy to astrophysical and cosmological problems. He received emeritus status in 1992. Dr. Johnson is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
