Sixteen faculty from Duy Tan University, Vietnam, visit the department June 20-24 as part of a six-week international collaboration with CSUF Extended Ed, Civil Engineering, and Physics.

Duy_Tan_1The program is designed to introduce non-traditional teaching methods to the Duy Tan faculty while enchancing their English language skills. Kicking off the program, Greg Childers is giving a week-long intensive overview of our introductory physics course PHYS 225.

The participants focussed on the implementation of the modern WileyPlus online content management and homework system, peer instruction with ConcepTests and the iClicker classroom response system for live assessment of student learning.

Greg also introduced them to our laboratory course Phys 225L and implementing modern Vernier and Pasco equipment and computer data acquisition, and a variety of classroom demonstrations.

Physics senior Jack Phan, who himself is Vietnamese and speaks Vietnamese fluently, assisted Greg throughout the week, along with physics major Al Tapia and department tech Steve Mahrley. Thank you, gentlemen!
