CSUF Liberal Studies Professor Kevin Lambert closed out this year's colloquium series with a history lesson on Maxwell's early paper on electromagnetism entitled "On Faraday's Lines of Force."

Kevin described Maxwell's struggle within the structure of mid-nineteenth century Victorian society and theology to develop a logical, mathematical framework for Faraday's observations of magnetic lines of force. Kevin's work on Maxwell has been published.

Kevin focussed on Maxwell's early work before Maxwell introduced the displacement current and thus the full set of four Maxwell's equations we know and love, especially our Phys 330 students!

The talk was well attended, including Kevin's colleagues from Liberal Studies Jim Hofmann (Chair), Margaret Garber, and Andrea Patterson, and was a stimulating sendoff into exam week.

Thank you Kevin, let's reconnect our departments with another joint colloquium in the fall!
