Greg Childers has been asked to join the newly formed campus Academic Technology Center Advisory Board.
The Divisions of Academic Affairs and Information Technology (IT) are partnering to open to faculty a new Academic Technology Center (ATC). The ATC Advisory Board on which Greg will serve has been designated to help determine future campus IT needs and coordinate among the various academic units going forward.
The formal announcement of the new board members will take place on Campus Technology Day February 15, 2011.
We certainly feel they've picked the right person. Greg has a great deal of experience integrating computers into the curriculum, over the past several years he's developed our Phys 315 Computers in Physics into one of the department's most popular courses, and he's currently in the second semester of teaching online his own newly designed upper-division GE course Phys 301 Energy and Sustainability. Greg is one of our most popular instructors.
Greg maintains the department's web server and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of our new website. Greg remains the department's web guru on all things computer related, and includes the challenge of factoring very large numbers among his varied research interests.
