California State University Chancellor Timothy White continues his statewide tour of the 23-campus system.
GWPAC rolled out the red carpet for the Chancellor and his entourage, which included Loren Blanchard, Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs. Center director Josh Smith gave an overview of GWPAC and its participation in last week's historic announcement of gravitational-wave observation.
In the follow-on poster session, the Chancellor and the President met with GWPAC students one-on-one discussing their research.
During his all day visit to campus, Chancellor White met with President Mildred García and her cabinet, attended a meeting of the Academic Senate, enjoyed pizza with students in the Quad, and visited with the Associated Students Board.
The Chancellor requested to see two examples of student faculty creative activities during his visit. One of those stops was the Physics department and GWPAC.
The Chancellor remarked how fearless the students were at presenting their research.
The students stressed the culture across the college and the atmosphere of involvement in basic science—just another day in the department!
