Physics Professor Greg Childers and colleagues have developed a software package for public use that takes advantage of spare CPU cycles to factor very large integers.  

Professor of physics Tim Gay from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln gave a public lecture on the Physics of Football and a colloquium on atomic physics during his visit to the department in December 2010 featured in the OC Register.

Over the summer and the past semester, the physics department has entirely refurbished its advanced lab offerings with new experiments and instrumentation.
