41st Jim Isenberg Pacific Coast Gravity Meeting
The 41st Jim Isenberg Pacific Coast Gravity Meeting will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 - Saturday, April 5, 2025 at California State University, Fullerton. The conference will take place in Steven G. Mihaylo Hall (Mihaylo Hall on this campus map) room 1406.
In the tradition of the Pacific Coast Gravity Meetings, students and postdocs are strongly encouraged to participate, and all areas of gravitational physics—classical and quantum, theory and experiment—are welcome. We would like this meeting to serve as a communication medium among all branches of gravitational physics. Because this is a regional meeting, many participants will be from the Western United States, but all are welcome.
The meeting is free to attend (no registration fee). We are not able to provide financial assistance to speakers and participants. A prize (sponsored by the APS Division of Gravitational Physics) will be awarded for the best student talk.
Program
The program will be posted here after registration has closed and the talks have been scheduled.
Registration
Please register using this registration form. For full consideration, your application should be received by 11:59PM on March 21, 2025. Late applications will be considered at the discretion of the organizers.
PCGM has grown to the point where we can no longer promise to accommodate all requests to speak. Priority will be given to talks by graduate students and postdocs.
DGRAV PRIZE
A prize will be awarded for the best talk by a student at the meeting. If you are eligible (i.e., if you are a student), please be sure to indicate that on the registration form. Detailed eligibility criteria can be found here .
Logistics
Meeting room
The conference will take place in Mihaylo Hall (see this campus map) room 1406. Mihaylo Hall consists of 3 buildings. Room 1406 is on the first floor of the West Pavilion of Mihaylo Hall, which is the small building near Langsdorf Hall.
Transportation
Driving and Parking
Our campus address is 800 N St. College Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92831. We are located just off of the Nutwood Avenue exit of the 57 Freeway. If you are driving but not staying at a hotel, please park in the Eastside South parking structure (campus map) on the second level or higher; this structure is the one closest to Mihaylo Hall and the Marriott hotel. Please do not park in the Eastside North parking structure , which is reserved for commuter parking permits.
On Friday, you'll need to buy a parking pass for $12, which will be connected to your car's license plate. You can do this ahead of time by creating a guest account at the parking portal: go to our web page for visitors, click the button to go to the Visitor Parking Portal, scroll down and click the "Guest Login" button at the bottom of the page, and follow the instructions to create a guest account, log in, and buy a permit. Alternatively, when you arrive, you can buy a pass before leaving your vehicle by using ParkMobile mobile app or website; the ParkMobile zone is 1680.
On Saturday, campus parking is free, so you won't need a permit.
Public Transportation
Amtrak and Metrolink trains stop at Fullerton Station. From there, you can take an OCTA bus (they run somewhat infrequently, so please double-check the schedule if you choose to take the bus). Alternatively, it's straightforward to get to campus from Fullerton Station using Uber or Lyft.
Airport
If you fly, we recommend flying to Orange County John Wayne Airport. You can then take an Uber or Lyft to Fullerton; the ride is about 25 minutes if there is no traffic.
Lodging
If you will be staying overnight in Fullerton, we recommend the Fullerton Marriott at California State University, which is just across the street from Mihaylo Hall, and the DoubleTree by Hilton Fullerton is a 10-minute walk from Mihaylo Hall. There are several other conferences taking place at this time, so we suggest booking your hotel room early.
Local restaurants
For lunch, there are a number of restaurants in walking distance of Mihaylo Hall. There is a group of restaurants immediately across from Mihaylo Hall, and there are some additional options south of the DoubleTree hotel and near the intersection of State College Blvd. and Chapman Ave. (about a 15-minute walk from Mihaylo Hall).
